M.Sc. (Applied Psychology) 

The Department of Psychology at the Sunandan Divatia School of Science, NMIMS (Deemed to be University) introduced the M.Sc. (Applied Psychology) program in August 2021. The department distinguishes itself through its holistic approach to student development, prioritizing practical application, experiential learning, and a focus on research over traditional classroom learning. 

Specialisations in M.Sc. (Applied Psychology):

  1. Clinical Psychology
  2. Business & Organizational Psychology 

The M.Sc. (Applied Psychology) program serves as both preparatory training for prospective doctoral candidates in Psychology and as a pathway for careers demanding a high level of psychological expertise. The emphasis of the courses extends beyond understanding psychological phenomena in theory to include evaluation and intervention. The curriculum is thoughtfully structured, with core modules offering comprehensive training in research methods and professional issues. Our students engage in a four-month practicum setup, where they actively learn and apply the intricate skills essential for practicing as psychologists.

To ensure the ongoing relevance of our curriculum, we regularly review and update our syllabi based on feedback from various stakeholders and ensure that the syllabi align with the latest developments in the field of psychology. We are dedicated to grooming our students, not only in their chosen fields but also in expanding their mindsets and fostering positive attitudes.

This program helps students to pursue higher studies, such as M.Phil, Ph.D and Psy.D Degree/courses in Clinical, Applied, Industrial and other disciplines of Psychology. Student can also start their careers as a Mental Health Care Workers, Allied Health Care professionals after finishing their degree. 

Duration

The M.Sc. (Applied Psychology) is a two-year course, which includes four semesters with major focus on advanced knowledge and practice of psychology in the two specializations offered. 

Intake

Intake will be notified at the time of admission process. 

Eligibility 
Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% or equivalent in the bachelor's degree in science i.e. B. Sc. from any recognized university in Science Stream or Engineering or Technology or Medicine or Pharmaceutical Science or in any discipline of Psychology i.e. (B.A. Psychology, B.Sc. Psychology or B. Psy. in Psychology).

  • To instil a strong sense of ethical responsibility and professionalism, emphasizing adherence to ethical guidelines and standards in clinical and organizational psychology practices.
  • To equip students with advanced research skills, enabling them to contribute to the scientific knowledge base in Applied Psychology through empirical studies and innovative research projects.
