Naming Ceremony - Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts on 6th January, 2017
In January 2017 the young School of Liberal Arts received a major boost and recognition when it was chosen by the Dalal Family Foundation, USA for a generous endowment grant. The Dalal Family Foundation since its inception in 2002 has been supporting the causes of education and empowerment, especially of women, elderly and disabled populations. To further its engagement, in 2016 it was looking to support an educational effort with high credentials. After rigorous scrutiny two schools at NMIMS were chosen, the School of Liberal Arts being one of them. As a token of gratitude the school decided to rename itself after Mrs Jyoti Dalal, late mother of Mr Nayan Dalal, chairperson of the Dalal Family Foundation. Mrs Jyoti Dalal was a social worker and throughout her life worked extensively for the betterment of women and children.
The naming ceremony took place on the 6th of January 2017 and was presided over by Shri Amrishbhai Patel, President of SVKM and Chancellor of NMIMS, Dr Rajan Saxena, Vice-chancellor NMIMS, Dr Sharad Mhaiskar Pro Vice Chancellor, Mr Sunandan Divatia Secretary, Mr Shalin Divatia Joint Secretary, Mr Nayan Dalal and Mr Pravin Dalal of the Dalal Family Foundation, Prof Uma Narain, Dean School of Liberal Arts, Prof Seema Mahajan, Director Pravin Dalal Centre for Entrepreneurship & Family Business Management.
