SPD 2023
The Psychology Department successfully hosted Suicide Prevention Day on September 9th. A total of 150 B.Sc. Applied Psychology students attended in person, while others participated via livestream. The event, conducted in collaboration with the ‘Samaritans’, raised awareness about suicide prevention. A key highlight was a concluding mindfulness session led by Dr. Heena Kamble. This session emphasized the importance of mental well-being, incorporating guided imagery and positive affirmations to leave participants feeling relaxed and refreshed after the impactful discussions.
SPD 2022
The Psychology Committee hosted Suicide Prevention Day 2022 as an offline event in the NMIMS atrium. Information tables were set up, featuring engaging games designed to encourage interaction and promote discussions on suicide prevention. A prominent "affirmation wall" served as a focal point, inviting participants to share positive messages and foster a supportive environment.
SPD 2021
On September 9th, the NMIMS Psychology Department organized an online event to commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day. Ms. Sangeetha Param, a renowned TedX speaker, served as the guest speaker. Dr. Neetin Desai, the esteemed Dean of SDSOS at NMIMS, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event focused on understanding the underlying causes of suicide, fostering empathy, and providing support to individuals in distress. A poignant "suicide monologue" performance and an interactive Q&A session moderated by the faculty concluded the event.
