The Department of Psychology distinguishes itself through its holistic approach to student development, prioritizing practical application, experiential learning, and a focus on research over traditional classroom learning. The program focuses on diverse disciplines of Psychology and serves as preparatory training for post-graduation courses requiring a solid foundational base in Psychology. The emphasis of the courses extends beyond understanding psychological phenomena in theory to understanding the practical application of the same. Our students engage in Summer Internships and Research Projects as a part of their curriculum enhancing their skill sets. Students get ample opportunity of interactions with experts in these fields. 

To ensure the ongoing relevance of our curriculum, we regularly review and update our syllabi based on feedback from various stakeholders and ensure that the syllabi align with the latest developments in the field of Psychology. Our pedagogical framework is centered on student engagement and excellence. With our learner-centric environment, we aim to cultivate well-rounded graduates equipped to navigate the dynamic landscape of Psychology with confidence and expertise. 

Duration

The B.Sc. (Applied Psychology) is a four-year program which includes eight semesters with major focus on field knowledge. Students will be provided with an exit option after three years in accordance with NEP guidelines. 

Intake

Intake will be notified at the time of admission process.

This program is available at Mumbai and Navi Mumbai Campus.

Eligibility

The Candidate must have passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination from recognized board with minimum 50% aggregate marks in any stream (Science / Commerce / Arts). 

Admission Criteria Process

Merit list will be based on performance of the candidate in 10+2 or Equivalent examination. The selection will be solely based on merit. In this regard, the decision of NMIMS University will be final and undisputable as shall be binding on all concerned.

Program Objectives:

  • To ensure students grasp the fundamental theories and concepts of Psychology, including cognitive, developmental, social, clinical, forensic and organizational Psychology.
  • To equip students with the necessary tools and techniques to conduct empirical research in Psychology.
  • To teach students how to apply psychological principles and research findings to address real-world problems in diverse settings such as education, healthcare, business, and community organizations.
  • To cultivate critical thinking skills so that students can evaluate psychological theories, research studies, and practical interventions with a critical eye.
  • To instil an understanding of ethical principles and professional standards in Psychology.
  • To develop effective written and oral communication skills that enable students to convey complex psychological concepts and research findings to diverse audiences.
  • To provide opportunities for hands-on learning through internships, practicum placements, or research assistantships where students can apply their knowledge and skills in real-world settings under the supervision of professionals.
